A few words on North Dakota

May 11, 2012

The straight roads are not an absent geographer’s shortcut but an eerily monotonous truth.

The light blue sky goes on forever, dotted with the occasional puffy white cloud, inexplicably ominous.

The land rhymes with the sky. The green grass goes out to the unending horizon, punctuated by the occasional tree, pond or cow.

And the car hurtles inexorably onward; the bugs on the window attest to its progress.
